At Little Violet Photography, we understand just how precious your new baby is. So when it comes to choosing who takes their first photos, it’s a big decision. I’m a specialist newborn photographer, and over the past nine years, I’ve invested countless hours into safety and posing training — all voluntarily and at my own expense. That’s how much your baby’s safety and your enjoyment mean to me.
Newborn sessions take place ideally when baby is between 5-15 days old. So pre-booking your shoot is advisable
Your newborn photo shoot will be calm and completely baby-led, so that you can relax and enjoy the experience without any stress or pressure.
Once you’ve had your scan, get in touch and I’ll pop your due date in my diary as a provisional booking – you just need to pay the booking fee of £75. Then, once baby arrives, we’ll confirm a date and time for your shoot — ideally when baby is between 5–15 days old.

If you thought the days went quickly before, you are in for a shock when little one arrives. Each day brings a change in baby’s development in those first few days. Whilst you are adjusting to sleepless nights and nappies, your baby’s body is working hard on growing and rapid development.
Very soon they start to loose the willingness to go into the sweet curled up poses that we love, and that replicate being in the womb. This is because their bodies are getting stronger each day and they stay awake for longer.

Most clients book their newborn session after their 20 week scan.
The photos Carly created of my baby and I are stunning, I highly recommend. She made sure my little one and I were comfortable and happy at all times throughout the whole sitting. Her studio is very cosy and produces a relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely be going back again.

Full Newborn Experience (2-4 hours)
A deluxe experience, fully bespoke to your requirements.
Focusing on you and your family’s bond with your new baby, using creative techniques, beautiful props and fabrics.
The 2-4 hour session allows plenty of time for soothing, feeding and posing and a great variety of family and baby only photos.
Expect a mixture of baby swaddled, baby unwrapped, parent and sibling images.
Packages start from £395.
Mini Newborn Session (1 hour)
A simple experience with baby swaddled throughout, focusing on baby only, in a variety of poses using one colour option.
Chose a prop option such as a bed or bowl, and the rest of the images will be taken on my posing table.
The all inclusive price for this session is £195 and includes 5 digital images.

Newborn Mini Session
This option is perfect if you’d like a simple experience with beautifully minimal styling. Ideal for those who prefer a clean, classic look with no fuss — or if you’re working within a budget.
- Your Mini session includes:
- One colour backdrop
- One prop choice (if wanted)
- Baby photographed wrapped (swaddled)
- Up to 2 hours in the studio
- Suitable for older newborns of up to 6 weeks
- 5 digital images sent to you within a week
Please note, parent and sibling poses are not included in this session — the focus is solely on capturing beautiful portraits of your newborn baby on their own. Baby may be awake due to the shorter session time. There is no viewing appointment with this session, I will choose the best five images to edit and to send to you. Full payment is required on booking.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do I book my session for?
Most families book after they’ve had their 20 week scan, but you can book as soon as you find out you’re pregnant if you prefer.
I pencil in your due date on booking, allowing 2 weeks flexibility either side of your due date for if baby comes early or late. We confirm a date and time once little one has arrived.
I only do one newborn session a day, so in order to secure your space in my diary it is advisable to book as soon soon as you can.
Can we be in the photos too?
Yes absolutely. I always encourage families to get involved in their newborn photo shoot, and it doesn’t cost any extra in a full newborn session.
Full newborn sessions allow enough time for family posing before we focus on your baby’s photos. Bring along a well behaved dog too if you’d like! Just message me first so I know they are coming.
I just want a few photos of baby. Is that OK?
That’s fine, and I know some families have a strict budget but still want some professional photos.

Do I need to bring anything?
No, everything we need for the photoshoot is right here in the studio.
If you want to bring along any special items please do, but all the outfits/props etc are ready here for you to choose from.
Carly was so welcoming from the moment we arrived, and made us feel so relaxed and confident in handing over our beautiful boy to her.
